I am disappoint

I was supposed to go to the gym and trick to night, but everyone was busy =\ dah well, I needed to rest anyway.

The good news is that we have 2 brand new trickers joining us at the gym every week, and I've recruited 2 people to start tricking at school! I is excited. New trickers always make me happy, they always have potential

Break is Over

Okey Dokey, I took a brief hiatus during my girlfriend's visit, but I should be back to post regular updates again. Sorry I haven't been an active blogger.

Anyway, here is my latest video that I just uploaded over the weekend. It features not only tricks, but my awesome tricking friends and my girlfriend:

Progress

From my last couple of tricking sessions, it has become clear to me that I'm not making much progress. I've only learned one new trick in months. It's okay though, I can deal with it.

I'm just realizing more and more that I need to drill my tricks harder, and start a proper workout routine.

Also sorry that I haven't been around for a couple of days, I've had a busy weekend. I'll be back to the usual daily blogging routine every day now.

Thanks for checking in on me guys :)

Just Some Pictures

Not much to talk about today. I had a light tricking session yesterday and I'm not planning on tricking today, so here's some other photos:

Thoughts on Drilling and Health

My Chicago tricking buddy, Patrick, emailed me last night indicating that he wanted to buckle down and start really drilling his tricks instead of just having fun. I applauded him for these thoughts.

While it is my personal philosophy that tricking needs to be fun or else you're doing it wrong, if you ever want to make progress, you have to drill. It's just like weight lifting. If you do 5 sets of 8 repetitions over a period of time, you will progress. Tricking works the same way. If you do 5 sets of 8 backflips at every session, your backflips will get better.

However, if you are not consistent then it will all be for naught. If you only lift weights once every week and a half, or do the same with tricking drills, then you will progress at a far slower rate.

My thoughts on health are that I'm very tired haha, it's a consistent thing. My diet needs an overhaul, I'll probably mention that in future posts.

Video You'll Want to See

This video has a ton of views, so anyone who tricks may have already seen it, but for all the rest:

It's a good intro!

You Are Your Style

I learned this the hard way.

Your personality will shape your tricking style. If you're an aggressive, all-out person, your style will be aggressive like you. I am very lazy and not the hardest worker, so my style is floaty and doesn't have as much effort put in to it. The lack of effort I put in to each trick makes it hard for me to progress.

Hans Wikkeling brought this to my attention over the summer, and I am very thankful for it. Since then I've been able to step up my game, and the simple attitude adjustment improved my tricking greatly.

My point is, compare yourself to how you trick and see if you need change anything. I don't mean change yourself, but perhaps you need to change how you look at tricking like I did in order to improve.

Making it Fun

Tricking loses it's appeal to me when it is no longer fun. The parts of tricking I find fun are tricking with others, trying new tricks or combos, and sticking new tricks. Tricking with others is always the most fun because the session is no longer just about tricks, it's about spending time with like minded individuals and encouraging one another. The community is what will always make tricking fun and entertaining.

Theeee Paiiiin

My back hurts xD That was the first thing I noticed this morning. Tricking isn't without it's drawbacks. Injuries are possible and unless you have the patience to go through a stretching, hot/cold showering, and protein/amino acid regiment (which I do not have the patience for) you will be sore the next day.

But who cares! It's the price of having fun, the price of getting to know potentially hundreds of awesome people, and the price of bettering yourself.

I am willing to pay that price

Team Dynamicks

It's always awesome to trick with others, and even better when you can do it consistently as part of a team.

Thoughts Always on Tricking

For those who don't know what tricking is, I suggest watching this man on youtube. He is (in my opinion) the best right now.

I don't think that the debate on what defines a tricker/trickster shouldn't be on what moves they do, it should be on their mindset. Are they thinking about tricking everyday? Are thoughts and combos running through their minds? If the answer is yes, then they are a tricker, it doesn't matter whether they do kicks or twists.

Division isn't what makes a tricking community, it's a unity of like minded people.
